PSA: kernel 5.12.11 is safe for bcache, again
With the release of Linux kernel 5.12.11, bcache
is safe to use, again. The patch
bcache: avoid oversized read request in cache missing code path
has been merged.
Due to changes in 5.12 kernels, bcache
was prone to cause a BUG_ON()
when submitting
large I/O requests. The result was a kernel panic or a system freeze. Problem was reported in
couple of places: Fedora bug#1965809,
bcache mailing list #1,
bcache mailing list #2.
