Gdy pół roku temu Novell zlecił firmie Imendio zrobienie libbeagle, będącej biblioteką w C do komunikacji z Beagle, można się było domyślać, że do czegoś jest potrzebna. Np. do integracji bigla z Nautilusem, czyli gnomowym sposobem na przeglądanie i zarządzenie plikami.

Imendio wywiązało się z umowy, a integracyjne słowo stało się kodem, który już niedługo ma trafić do HEAD Nautilusa. Na razie jest nieźle -- wyszukiwanie jest zdecydowanie szybsze niż z Best'a (przykładowa aplikacja do wyszukiwania dostarczana z Beaglem). I oczywiście można dane wyszukiwanie zapisać jako katalog. Rzecz jasna, automatycznie się aktualizujący w miarę pojawiania się plików spełniających kryteria wyszukiwania:

Przy okazji -- oprócz bindingów C, od wersji 0.1.3 z Beaglem dostarczany jest również interfejs pythonowy.

A na fali web-dwa-zero taggingu, Christian Hammond stworzył rozszerzenie Nautilusa pozwalające tagować swoje pliki. Chociaż Nautilus od dawna ma wsparcie tagowania w postaci emblematów, to nie jest ono zbyt wygodne, a mająca przeszukiwać emblematy Medusa nie została w końcu dołączona do GNOME-2.0 i odeszła w zapomnienie.

Screenshoty ilustrujące, w tym pokazujące tagi w zajefajnym Deskbar Applecie są oczywiście dostępne na blogu Christiana.

Mamy wyszukiwarkę zintegrowaną z zarządcą plików -- a więc, Panowie i Panie, gonimy Mac OS X!.
